Three Great European Cities

There are many very nice European cities that are worth a visit. Some people even decide to call them home! They are listed below.

Vienna, Austria

Vienna has a population of 2 million people, and is the largest city in Austria. It also is the cultural and economic center of Austria. The capital city of Austria is divided up into 23 districts that radiate out from the center of the city, much like Paris.

If you are interested in art at all, you will absolutely love Vienna. This is the city of Mozart, the Hapsburgs, choirs and a lot more.

Vienna is very close to the Czech Republic and Hungary. Vienna has very wide roads and lovely trams. It was a Nazi center of power during the 2nd World War but today it is glistening and beautiful.

Vienna also plays host to many international groups and meetings. Some of these include the UN and OPEC. Vienna also is the home of classical music and is one of the world centers of opera.

Geneva, Switzerland

Geneva is thought to be a very global city. It is the headquarters of many international organizations, and includes the UN and the Red Cross. Geneva is the second most populated city in Switzerland. It is located by Lake Geneva where the River Rhone joins the lake. It has the Jura ridges on one side and the first peaks of the Savoy Alps on the other side. The metropolitan area of Geneva covers part of Switzerland and France.

Geneva is packed with all sorts of wonderful hotels, due to the amount of international business that is conducted here. The Cathedrale St. Pierre is wonderful and there are all sorts of top of the line museums to enjoy. Old Town is high on the central hill of the city, and is very much worth your time.

More than 30% of the people who live here are foreigners, but most of the residents are white and speak French or English.

Zurich, Switzerland

This is the largest city in Switzerland and is a very Protestant town. This is the cultural capital of the country and also a commercial center. There are two huge cathedrals here, and tons of streets that are perfect for exploring on foot. It is a city with many parks and gardens. It also has a great botanical garden. You can also take many side trips from this city to other lovely parts of Switzerland.

It is located in the middle of the country and right on Lake Zurich. The city is big enough to offer many hotels and restaurants, but also small enough that you can explore it on your own. You can take a sailboat or a motorboat across Lake Zurich any time of day.

Zurich has one of the highest standards of living in the entire world and has a lot of 19th century charm that is very appealing. We find it to be one of the most attractive cities in Europe. We highly recommend a visit to Zurich.
