Cold Finger Foods: The Better Choice For Most Events

When making the decision to host a function, the biggest consideration is what kind of food will be served. Hiring a catering service is the way to make the event flow smoother. There are certain occasions that require specific types of foods. It does not make sense to have a full fledged meal at a function that does not allow for easy seating and dinner tables. Carrying a full plate and a drink then trying to cut a steak is awkward.

Finger foods are the perfect choice in a profession or a casual setting, when a venue does not have the room for a more formal dining area with tables and chairs, or if the party just lends itself to more free-form dining style. Once it has been decided that finger foods are the way to go, it is then time to determine whether to go with a hot or a cold menu.

Office catering might have a more formal aura to it than personal catering and the focus is very different. Both provide the food of course, but corporate catering is centered on a more conventional gathering where perhaps the finger food company would provide more refined recipes. They might not provide spit roast catering to a client meeting, for example. The more casual event would provide finger foods that lend themselves to a more casual atmosphere and reflect the type of event being held. At a wedding, finger food is much easier to handle especially when there is going to be a lot of dancing and the atmosphere is more relaxed as people mingle.

If the event is meant to bring people closer together, like a reunion or a wedding, having a cold finger food buffet-style menu will get people to leave their seats. They can meet in line, introduce themselves when choosing the items that appeal to them, and chatting as they enjoy the food. It is the perfect way to get the guests mingling and enjoying themselves.

Cold finger food is much easier to maintain. There is no need to worry about keeping the food hot. Keeping the food hot can be a challenge in a venue that is on the cool side, or when there is going to be a lot of guests and the buffet line could get a bit long. Cold food can ruin an event pretty quickly. That is not a memory an event planner wants his or her guests walking away with after a party. Unfortunately, people remember the bad food at a function, as much or maybe even more so, than they remember the good food they\’ve had.

Catering is very diverse and often catering services provide any kind of food choices the event planner could possibly want. The catering service can handle any kind of party or event thrown at them, from the most casual of pool parties, perhaps a high school graduation to a work seminar or an event like the retirement of a company president.
