8 Valuable Tips to Get That Perfect Spray Tan

Spray tanning is an easy way to get that golden glow without having to expose you to the harmful UVA and UVB rays of the sun. It may sound like a no brainer since you only go and stand in a booth as an automatic sprayer do its magic. But if you really want to get that perfect tan, it may take a little planning to get it right. Here are some tips to help you out.

#Tip 1. Schedule your session at the right time

Timing is of the essence if you want to get the right amount of tan to sport for that special occasion. A fresh spray tan can have a more orange hue, which would only settle to its final color the following day. It is best to have your spray tan within 48 hours before an event, because this can also give you enough time to correct any problems with your tan.

#Tip 2. Wash thoroughly

On the day of your spray tan session you should shower thoroughly using a body wash or soap that are not formulated with moisturizers. This can affect the way your tan would set on your skin.

#Tip 3. Be careful with what you put on

You should not wear any moisturizers, lotions, deodorant, make-up, aromatherapy oils or body butters when going for a spray tan. This can result to lighter patches because these materials can block the spray. Also, deodorants can have the tendency to react to the tanning spray. If you have to put on some before going to the salon, you can bring along some wet wipes so you can wipe it off before going in.

#Tip 4. Dress appropriately

Wear dark colored underwear because the spray tan color might stick to any your good and light colored undies. Loose clothing is also more appropriate to prevent your skin from rubbing to your clothes.

#Tip 5. Shower at the right time

Showering must be put off at least 8 hours to a day after your spray tan. This leaves enough time for the color to set in. If you see some color washing off on the first shower don’t worry because this is the cosmetic bronzer on the topmost layer. It is also important to avoid long showers because this can speed up exfoliation.

#Tip 6. Moisturize after showers

Moisturize your skin right after showering protects your spray tan from drying out which can lead it to rub off easily. In circular motions apply liberal amounts of moisturizing cream on your face and body.

#Tip 7. Put off swimming

Swimming hours after your spray tan will create reactions to your tan. For instance chlorine can bleach the tan and can affect its immediate reaction. Chlorine and salt water can also lead your skin to dry which causes your tan to fade more quickly.

#Tip 8. Minimize activity

Try not to sweat too much at least 12 hours after your spray tan. This can lead to stain your clothes and cause your tan to fade quickly. Let the color set for at least a day before engaging into heavy activity.
