3. Your children cannot eat what is not offered in your home. They will learn to love what you do provide them on a routine basis. This means you should stock your home with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as whole grains and low calorie snacks. If these are the items in your kitchen, then your children can eat freely without you worrying that they are sneaking the unhealthy snacks from the cabinet. Make treats a special occasion, not an everyday household staple.

4. Find healthier recipes for favorite meals that are not so healthy. Rather than telling your children they cannot have pizza or lasagna, find recipes that sneak in lots of veggies and reduce saturated fat and overall calories. You can do this without sacrificing taste for virtually any dish!

5. Serve everyone in your home small portions. The portions you receive in restaurants are not healthy. If children see adults piling their plates with massive portions, they will grow up believing that is normal for adults. If they are served massive portions themselves, they will always expect to eat that much at each meal. Get your children used to smaller portions as early in life as possible, and that means controlling what you put on your plate as well.

These are just five basic ways to encourage your children to eat healthier from a Concord bootcamp trainer. You should also encourage them to get outdoors on a daily basis for a bit of exercise. You do not have to become a drill sergeant and make them hate you. The trick is to come up with fun activities that you can do with them.
