When to Send Your Console to the PS3 Repair Center?

The PS3 usually does not malfunction easily, unlike other gaming consoles on the market. PS3 users will know that the most common problem with the PS3 is the red blinking light. When this happens the first step is usually to switch off and unplug the PS3. Sometimes the red light blinks because the console has over-heated. In these circumstances one should just let it cool for at least half an hour. In other instances the red blinking light results because one of the components is damaged. For example, the motherboard can get damaged because there is insufficient ventilation, so it over-heats the entire console. If any of these instances occur then one can simply send the PS3 to be repaired.

PS3 repairs can be expensive. Especially if one has to ship the console to a service center. Sometimes it can cost as much as having to buy a new one. For this reason it is often recommended that one try to determine and solve the problem without sending the console to a PS3 repair center or specialist. For example, the problem could be as simple as a misplaced connection in terms of the cables and the hard drive. Sometimes the hard drive may no longer work at all. When one first sees the red blinking light then the second step, other than allowing the console to cool off, is to reset the hard drive. In order to reset the hard drive one can simply remove it and then replace it. In a lot of cases this is all that is required and will help to save money and time. However, if the red light continues to blink then that was not the problem with the console.

Sometimes the hard drive is completely damaged and cannot be repaired. In this case a replacement will have to be purchased. However, it is fairly affordable to buy a new hard drive. It is certainly cheaper than buying an entirely new console. It is also a lot more affordable than sending it to a PS3 repair center. When the PS3 switches itself off and the red light starts to blink then the problem is merely a matter of the console over-heating. As previously mentioned, if it over-heats it is best to let it cool down for a while. The over-heating could be a result of two things; poor air ventilation for the motherboard and too much dust on the motherboard. With the latter a simple spray of air can clean out the dust. When the former happens then the console should be moved to a different place where there is better air flow.

Of course, there are those who are lucky enough to still have warranties on their PS3’s. These people can send their console to a professional PS3 repair center and have professionals to resolve the problem for them. But, if you have already tried to fix the console yourself then the warranty will no longer be valid. Sometimes all that is required is to call a PS3 repair center and they will be able to guide you over the phone. Or, one can order a PS3 repair guide on the internet. These are not very expensive and they are very beneficial because they provide step-by-step instructions on how to diagnose and fix all problems related to PS3 gaming consoles. If all else fails then the last solution available is simply to send the console to a PS3 repair center. Unfortunately, it may take a long time to get the console back from the repair shop and it could also be very expensive.
