Houston Secret Nightclub For Agoraphobics

I probably shouldn’t even be writing about any of this, but I’ll take the chance and do it. You certainly would read about places like this in any Houston entertainment reviews. You see, there are places in the city, secret places that only special people are supposed to get into. Somehow I managed to stumble into one of these places one night. It was a very strange experience, one I won’t soon forget.

It was very late one Friday night and I was just getting ready to head home when I got a text message from someone. I think I got the text by mistake because I didn’t recognize the number anywhere and it was a very cryptic message. All it was in the message was an address and the word “Hidden.”

Normally, I would have just disregarded a message like this and gone home for the night. This time, curiosity got the better of me. The address was only a few blocks from where I actually was at. I could easily walk it and see what it was all about. I gathered my coat and headed out.

When I arrived at the address, it was a very non-descript place. To be honest, it looked like it was just an office building with a bunch of businesses. There was a rather large gentleman right by the door as if he was guarding it, so I figured this was the place. I walked up to him and all he said was “Password?” I guessed it was the word hidden, so that’s what I said. He then asked to see my text message. I showed it to him and he let me in.

I walked up a small staircase and entered a place on my right that was covered with a curtain. There was a bar there, with no one sitting at it, just a bartender. A note right by the entrance said “take a room key.” I took a key and went to room 4, as it was assigned. I unlocked room 4 and went in. In it were a small table and chair, some magazines and music being piped in. There was also a computer that had a drink menu on the screen sitting on the table, which sat in front of a dark wall with what looked like a couple of sliding doors. I picked a drink to order off the menu and hit enter.

A moment later, the sliding door opened and my drink appeared, along with the tab. I put some money on the tray and sent the tray back through the door. I then turned to the computer and opened up another screen which told me that this was a bar for agoraphobics who wanted to get outside but still needed to be by themselves.

I finished my beer and got out of there. The whole experience was very surreal. I can’t believe places like this actually exist. Like I said, you sure won’t read about it in any Houston entertainment reviews, but if you can’t deal with people but want to try to leave your home, there are options for you I guess.
