Winter Maternity Swimwear

Winter does not seem like the time of year for swimming, let alone a pregnant woman, but the cold weather should not deter you from getting really good exercise. Swimming can be very aerobic without the stress on your joints. Since you are more buoyant in water, letting your belly float can relieve some of the stress on your back, particularly if you are in the last trimester. Still, you will need a good maternity bathing suit to support and hold you in place.

One of the maternity swimsuits that has been around for a long time and shaped to perfection is the Prego Empire Tank. This maternity swimwear is a one piece wonder and has been by thousands of pregnant women. It has wide straps to provide great bust support, which is a benefit for larger women, and a wide elastic strap underneath. The snap on the back ensures that the suit stays together while allowing easy access to put it on. It is by far one of the most popular maternity bathing suits for pregnant lap swimming or water aerobics.

New to the market is a Bikini Thief St Barts tankini in a two piece. The top is long enough to provide coverage on the bottom. The top is extra supportive maternity swimsuit with a wide under the bust band for support. The front is a sweetheart design with a crosscut on the back to help hold you up. While it may not have the same sort of ability as the Prego Empire tank, it would be good for water aerobics or maybe some more vigorous pool activity.

Another great maternity swimwear choice for some strenuous swimming pool activity would be the Prego Ring-Kini. This too is a two piece set. The top has great bust support due to the extra wide adjustable straps in a tank style. There is an ample elastic strap below the bust to help provide that necessary bust support. The bottoms are a basic bikini style without any sort of ties. They run higher than a pre-pregnancy type swimsuit might so there is good coverage across your belly. In turn, that extra cover helps the bottoms to stay in place and not move around while engaging in some sort of water activity. If you already have a small child then this would be a good choice for maternity swimwear to have on while holding them. As pregnant women with small children well know, kids will try to grab at anything their mothers are wearing. Maternity swimwear can be too revealing if it is pulled to hard and can result in an embarrassing moment. This ring-kini is extra supportive and provides great defense against little children.

While we many women may not think that swimming is something to be done in the winter time when the snow or rain is falling, it is a great opportunity if one is near an indoor heated pool. Many swim clubs or YWCAs offer year round aerobics class or just good old fashioned lap swimming. The exercises will may you feel great and help you as progress along in your pregnancy. You don’t need to live in Tucson, AZ to think that swimming is viable in the winter. All you need is a nice heated pool and great maternity swimwear that suits your water activity.
