Vegas Grand Canyon Helicopter Tours For Fall Travelers

We are nearly done with summer and headed into fall and now is the time to plan that autumn Grand Canyon helicopter tour from Las Vegas.

Do note that in fall helicopter flights will leave later in the morning and that there will be fewer helicopters flying.

How is this relevant to you? Sellouts. That\’s right, there will be fewer seats to purchase so now more than ever you\’ve got to book in advance and never at the destination.

Advanced Bookings

I typically recommend buying your tour at least two weeks prior to doing it or most definitely after you\’ve got your Las Vegas hotel rooms booked.

I also recommend booking online. Sure, it\’s easier than calling on the phone or purchasing from a kiosk (expensive!), but it\’s also the one sure way to qualify for the Internet discount rate.

Vegas helicopters fly exclusively to the West Rim of the Canyon. They do not fly to the South Rim. If you want a South Rim air tour, you\’ll have to opt for an airplane tour.

Kinds of Tours

Types of flights available include air and landing. Both follow the same flight path and both go over Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, the Colorado River, the Canyon and the Skywalk.

However, if you take a landing tour, which I highly recommend, you will land at the top of Canyon and/or the bottom. My preference is the bottom because it comes with a Champagne picnic.

You also need to consider from where in Vegas you\’ll depart from. The cheap flights take off from Boulder City, NV, which is a small town about 30 miles from Vegas. Deluxe flights, by contrast, leave from The Strip.

Limousine Service

Unlike basic flights, deluxe flights typically come with limousine service to and from your hotel, which is fantastic if you are celebrating a special occassion. Lastly, deluxe tours include a flight over The Strip, which is a must-do.

Another issue that comes up is window seats. Yes, they are awesome, but entirely unpredictable when comes to guaranteeing them. This is because helicopter seating is determined by the weight of all passengers, so where you sit is fixed at time of take off.

Does where you sit matter? Yes, especially in the cheap flights because they usually use a Bell Ranger helicopter. However, if you go deluxe, you\’re assured to fly in an EcoStar 130, which is a superior aircraft and is configured to give every passenger excellent views regardless where they end up sitting.

Conclusion

I hope this article on Grand Canyon helicopters from Las Vegas proved useful as you search for the perfect air tour. Frankly, I\’m a HUGE fan of landing tours, and particularly the deluxe ones that leave from the Vegas Strip, go to the bottom for a picnic, and conclude with a tour over The Strip. And to make sure you get what you want, always book online and in advance. That way you get the best flight at the lowest price.
