Vegas Helicopters – Seeing the Grand Canyon and Much More!

Looking for a totally unique way to see the Grand Canyon from Las Vegas? Take a helicopter tour. Flights can be purchased that hover over the National Park or go to the bottom and more.

So Close!

Few know this but the Canyon is just 120 miles away from Las Vegas. By helicopter, that\’s a short 45-minute flight. And in those 45 minutes, you\’ll get the chance to go over Lake Mead, Hoover Dam and the Colorado River.

And once you get into Canyon air space, you have the option to fly over this incredible natural wonder or to go below the rim and land. Personally, I prefer the landing tours, and more specifically the one that goes to the bottom for a Champagne lunch.

Further, and if you have the budget, it\’s a good decision to consider adding a boat ride down the Colorado River onto this terrific package. In sum, you\’ll basically land, transfer to a pontoon boat and float the River. It\’s an incredible experience.

The Skywalk

Or perhaps you want to land at the top. That trip\’s available, too, and it includes VIP tickets to the Skywalk (the glass bridge that lets you walk 70 feet over the edge!) plus up to two hours of time to explore the rim (I recommend you use it wisely and check out Eagle Point and Guano Point).

There are two kinds of Vegas helicopters. They are basic and deluxe. Basic tours are cheaper and, for the most part, they depart from Boulder City, which is a 30-minute shuttle ride from Vegas.

The deluxe tours, by contrast, depart from the Las Vegas Strip. They also come with free limousine service to and from your hotel and on the return segment of the trip they fly over the Las Vegas Strip.

Deluxe Tours

Frankly, when you add up all the perks, the deluxe tour in my estimation is the much better value. Do understand that these deluxe tours are very limited and so if you want them please consider booking in advance.

Which brings me to another key point: Always RSVP. Helicopters only hold six people and they are always in high demand so they are prone to selling out. As such, I always recommend that travelers book at least one to two weeks ahead of time. And try to get a morning flight; trips before 12 p. M. Offer better visibility and smoother air.

I further recommend that you book online. The reason for this is simple: You\’ll save money. In fact, I\’ve regularly seen situations where travelers are saving up to 35% over the retail price. That\’s a big savings if you are a group of two or more people.

Conclusion

I hope this article about Vegas helicopter tours to the Canyon proved helpful. There are several key things you need to remember. First, determine if you want a basic or deluxe flight. As I said, the deluxe is always the better value and if you choose this option book it early. And don\’t purchase them in Las Vegas because they\’ll be more expensive.
