Grand Canyon Helicopter Tours for the Thanksgiving Holiday

The Thanksgiving holiday weekend is just around the corner, making it a perfect time to visit Grand Canyon National Park by helicopter from Las Vegas, NV, or South Rim, AZ.

Thanksgiving, which is the most popular fall holiday in the U. S., is on Thursday, November 26, with most travelers usually extending it into a vacation through the weekend.

RSVP

This is good news because fall is one of the best times of the year to visit the National Park. That said, we do expect it to very busy and recommend that travelers book their helicopter rides in advance and online.

Rule of thumb is to purchase your tour right after you book your hotel rooms. The minimum we recommend is a week before flight time. Try to avoid booking 48 hours in advance as prices are usually higher and/or the trip is sold out.

Always purchase your tour over the Internet. That\’s where you will find the lowest prices are and the greatest selection. Remember to complete your transaction online in order to qualify for the Internet promo rate.

Las Vegas

From Vegas, you can pick between all-air and landing tours. Both fly from Las Vegas or Henderson, NV, or Boulder City, NV, and go over Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, the Colorado River and the Canyon. All-air flights will head back to town while landing trips will go to the top or bottom.

The all-air trips are great if you have limited time for sightseeing or are on a tight budget. However, if you do have a bit of both, I recommend taking a landing tour, especially the one that flies to the bottom of the Canyon for a Champagne picnic.

Moreover, this very same \”picnic\” tour can be extended to include a Colorado River boat ride and a VIP ticket to the internationally famous Grand Canyon Skywalk, which is a glass bridge that lets you walk some 70 feet over the edge of the Rim until you are standing a whopping 4,000 feet over the bottom.

South Rim

This particular rim is located in northern Arizona and the two most popular tours for Thanksgiving are the 30-minute and 50-minute all-air tours. The shorter one goes from the South Rim to the North Rim and back. The longer one does this, too, as well as everything up to Park\’s eastern border.

Frankly, I prefer the 50-minute all-air flight as it\’s the best value and after you\’ve done it you\’ll have seen up to 75 percent of the Park in under one hour! There\’s also a 30-minute helicopter ride combined with a 2.5-hour Jeep tour that\’s also super popular.

Be prepared for a bit of a chill in the air as it\’s indeed autumn weather here at both rims of the Canyon. The West Rim, which is closest to Las Vegas, will offer more temperate climes on par with Vegas\’ temperatures. The South Rim, which sits at a much higher elevation, will be cool throughout the day. Regardless which rim you visit, dress in layers and as the day warms up you can adjust accordingly.

Conclusion

I hope this article about taking a Grand Canyon helicopter tour over the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday inspired you to start planning. And it\’s super important to do plan because this holiday is very busy and flights are already selling out. Just remember that as you make your online booking that you complete the transaction online so you qualify for the Internet discount price.
