Grand Canyon Valentines Day Helicopter Tours

Looking to really impress your significant other for the Valentine\’s Day holiday? Take them on a Grand Canyon helicopter tour. There\’s a romantic flight for everyone, with departures leaving hourly from Las Vegas and South Rim.

Las Vegas

If you are in Vegas, you\’re in luck because you\’ll have access to some of the best tours out there. First, you can pick from air-only or landing tours, and both go over Lake Mead, the Colorado River and the Hoover Dam.

In the case of Valentine\’s Day, I\’m recommending folks specifically consider the tour that lands at the bottom for a Champagne picnic. Or go even bigger and add a cruise down the Colorado River and a pair of Skywalk tickets.

The Skywalk, by the way, is the glass platform bridge that lets you walk a good 70 feet over the edge until you are standing about 4,000 feet over the bottom of the Canyon. It\’s a magnificent view and one that I\’d consider very romantic, too.

South Rim

There are a number of South Rim helicopter tours available and they are all air-only and range from 30-minutes to 50-minutes in length. Both are fantastic and recommended. However, because this is a special day, I\’m favoring the longer flight.

This tour includes the South, North and East Rims and everything in between, including the Dragoon Corridor, which is the largest, and widest section of the Canyon. In fact, once you\’ve done it you\’ll have seen at least 75 percent of the National Park.

Go Deluxe

There are two kinds of flights – basic and deluxe. Being that it\’s Valentine\’s, I\’m going to recommend you stick with the deluxe tour because it uses the better helicopter, which is an EcoStar 130.

What makes the EcoStar so special is that it\’s 25 percent larger than a standard chopper. This additional size also means you get a 180-degree wraparound windshield and stadium-style seats that make every view incredibly awesome.

If you take a deluxe helicopter tour from Vegas, you\’ll also get free hotel pick up and drop off via a stretch limousine. All deluxe flights take off from the Vegas Strip and include an extended tour over the Vegas Strip before landing.

Save the Date

Make sure you book Valentine\’s Day tours well in advance. I usually like to recommend right after you get your rooms booked. Try to avoid same-day reservations or ones made within 48 hours as you\’ll end up paying more or the flight itself will be sold out.

And make sure to book it online because that\’s where all the deals are. By purchasing over the Internet, you can save as much as 35 percent. Just make sure to complete your transaction online in order to qualify for the discount rate.

Conclusion

I hope this article about Grand Canyon helicopter tours for Valentine\’s Day helped you plan your special trip. As noted, I\’m recommending that Vegas travelers do the one that lands at the bottom with a Champagne picnic. For South Rim visitors, take the 50-minute flight. If you have more questions, drop by the website and I\’ll personally be happy to answer them. Until we meet at the Canyon, have a great day!
