You might be surprised to learn that Rolls and Royce were actual people. Frederick Royce built the first Royce vehicles in 1904. He was a British electrical equipment manufacturer. The three two cylinder cars that Royce had built are what attracted Charles Rolls. Charles had been a car enthusiast for a long time and was the son of a baron. He had a dealership in London and was impressed with Royce’s engineering. They decided to become partners and it was decided that Royce would build the cars and Rolls would sell them.

In 1907 they introduced the Silver Ghost. It had a 6 cylinder engine and the inside was painted Silagra silver. This is the vehicle that got them noticed.
