Confidence is never something that Dallas Mavericks owner Marc Cuban has lacked. But as the Mavs head down the final stretch of the season and look to finish as the cialis price two-seed in the Western Conference, Cuban has openly stated that he likes his chances even more this year than in the past. With the Lakers showing significant flaws down the stretch and the rest of the teams in the West remaining within a few games of each other, Dallas could very well be the team to beat, making Mavs fans as excited as ever to get their hands on Dallas Mavericks Playoff tickets.

Led by perennial all-star Dirk Nowitzki and point guard Jason Kidd, the Mavs headed into the season as one of the better teams in the West, much the same as they are nearly every year. Though they always are one of the tougher teams in the league, it was unclear whether or not they had the overall talent to challenge the top teams in the West, or to even have a shot at winning an NBA title. Many were unsure what Shawn Marion was going to bring to the table and center Eric Dampier is always considered one of the most overpaid big men in the league. With Kidd heading deeper into the twilight of his career, it was very unclear how much longer he could run an NBA offense as a starter.

Questions were answered early in the season when Jason Kidd continued his solid play and Marion found a solid role on a team that doesn’t require him to be much of a scorer. After really struggling in his long-range shooting early in his career, Kidd continues to improve from season to season; this year, he’s shooting better than 42 percent from three-point land and 80 percent from the free-throw line. Nowitzki is having another one of his stellar seasons, averaging nearly 25 points per game and continuing to be a very strong rebounder. With those three pieces, not to mention Jason Terry providing a spark off the bench, the Mavs seemed to be ready for a big season.

But what has separated them further was a big deal that went down just before the trading deadline, one that brought over Brendan Haywood to back up Dampier and guard Caron Butler, who now provides a solid second scoring option behind Nowitzki. With a starting five full of all-stars and solid role players, the Mavs have arguably the most complete starting lineup in the entire league and Viagra Jelly also have one of the best bench players in Terry.

Helping their outlook for the playoffs even more is the inconsistency with which the Lakers have played down the stretch. With Derek Fisher clearly declining and Shannon Brown not ready to take over as a starting point guard, the Lakers have serious issues at the point. If the Mavs were to play the Lakers in the playoffs, Kidd would likely be too much for Fisher, who has noticeably struggled to defend this season. With other star point guards like Steve Nash and Deron Williams in good position to head deep into the playoffs, the Lakers’ weakness at point could very well be their Achilles heel, which opens up the door for other teams to represent the West in the NBA Finals.

If the Lakers continue to flounder down the stretch with Andrew Bynum out with injury and their problems at point guard, the Mavs seem to be in great position to step in as the team to beat in the West. The Jazz and the Suns are sure to be heard from as well but the Mavs seem to have the edge in overall depth and talent, even over a Jazz team that has Paul Millsap coming off the bench. As the Mavs head into the playoffs, you can count on Marc Cuban’s squad making some serious noise, which is something Cuban is unlikely to keep quiet about.
