Why Lead Poisoning May Be Causing Your Health Problems

Lead toxicity and Lead poisoning have been a concern in the U.S. since the 1800’s but we still see wide spread health problems from this very toxic heavy metal. Lead was banned from gasoline and paint several decades ago but it is still present in our soil, air and water plus it is still being used in many consumer products today. Lead can be found in lipsticks, hair dyes, manufacturing by-products and tobacco smoke. You would think that will all the literature and knowledge about the dangers of Lead that it would have been completely removed from our society but that is just not the case.

The federal government has continued to lower the amount of Lead that is considered safe to ingest as more information on Leads negative health effects come out and now rests at 10 micrograms/deciliter of blood. This is a large drop from just a few decades ago. In a study from 2006 published in the conservative medical journal Circulation that was largely ignored by the media showed that blood lead levels of only 2 micrograms/deciliter caused “dramatic increases in heart attacks, strokes and death. In fact, after controlling for all other risk factors, including cholesterol, high blood pressure, smoking and inflammation, the researchers found that the risk of death from all causes in people with a lead level that high increased by 25 percent. Deaths from heart disease increased by 55 percent, risk of heart attacks increased by 151 percent and risk of stroke increased by 89 percent”. This study followed over 12,000 for 12 years. Whats more over 40% of the U.S. population has blood levels that exceed the Governments safe level!! Another study published in the New England Journal of Medicine “found that using chelation therapy with EDTA to reduce lead levels in patients with kidney failure could prevent further loss of kidney function, save billions in healthcare costs and eliminate the need for dialysis in millions of people”. This is incredible information and should have been front page news but as usual it has barely seen the light of day in the national press.

With new information like this it is imperative that we take as many precautions as possible to limit our exposure to Lead and to remove the lead that has already seeped into our bodies. On primary source of lead is from contaminated soil, so removing your shoes before you enter your home will help lower the toxic load there and is very easy to do. To remove the Lead that is already in your body the best chelator to use is EDTA. EDTA is the most effective chelator of Lead you can buy plus it has a very, very low toxicity. The best EDTA product on the market today is Kelatox EDTA suppositories. Kelatox is more effective than IV EDTA since the EDTA stays in your body up to 4 times longer plus it is over 80% less expensive and far less time consuming than I.V. EDTA.
