MLB Tickets – Cream Rising to the Top in Fantasy

Now that we are more than halfway through the season, we can see that many of the players expected to have big seasons are doing just that, with a few pleasant surprises to boot. Let’s take a look at the position players who have had the biggest impact this fantasy season as of July 20.

5. Vladimir Guerrero, Texas Rangers, Outfield/DH:
Not only is Vlad’s season of the most surprising of the year, it’s also been one of the very best. Though teammate Josh Hamilton may not be able to catch Miguel Cabrera in terms of total RBIs, Vlad has a legitimate shot. Even with Cabrera’s strong start to the second half of the season, Guerrero remains just six RBIs back of Cabrera and has also mashed 20 homers to go with a .319 average and 61 runs scored in the heart of the Rangers order. Guerrero is one of the main reasons that the Rangers appear to have the A.L. West locked up and he continues to put up gaudy numbers that most thought he was incapable of producing this late in his career.

4. Josh Hamilton, Texas Rangers, Outfield:
Though Hamilton has better production numbers than Albert Pujols, Pujols has too much of an advantage in walks and strikeouts for Hamilton to be a better fantasy player. But even if he won’t catch Albert, Hamilton certainly helps sell plenty of MLB tickets with his majestic home runs and steady run production. With the highest average in the league (.353), 22 homers and 67 RBIs, Hamilton is having the best season of his career and has clearly established himself as one of the best fantasy players around. After struggling last season with injury, Hamilton is once again a superstar.

3. Albert Pujols, St. Louis Cardinals, First Base:
The power numbers are once again near the top of the National League, though below his standards, but Pujols still has the number one OPS in the N.L. and scores a ton of runs in the middle of the Cardinals lineup. Even though he doesn’t have the run production totals of Miguel Cabrera or the combination of production and speed of Crawford, Pujols has still managed to be one of the very top fantasy players in the league in 2010. All he has to do is go on a couple hot streaks in the second half the season and The Machine could very easily win yet another M.V.P., which would make it his fourth already in his career.

2. Miguel Cabrera, Detroit Tigers, First Base:
After recommitting himself physically in this past offseason, Cabrera has been the best hitter in the game for most of the season. His numbers speak for themselves: .340 average, 24 homers and 82 RBIs. Cabrera Cialis Professional is in the running for a Triple Crown and very well could put up somewhere around 40 dingers and 150 RBIs, which would likely wrap it up as far as the M.V.P. race is concerned.

1. Carl Crawford, Tampa Bay Rays, Outfield:
In leagues that stress stolen bases, which many do, Crawford has been an absolute monster. Crawford has 33 steals, 11 bombs and 51 RBIs, making his numbers good enough to potentially even get into the M.V.P. discussion. His .318 average is also very solid and he doesn’t strike out very much, which also is a tremendous advantage in fantasy. Though much of the talk in the Rays lineup is about third baseman Evan Longoria, they wouldn’t be anywhere near the same team without Carl Crawford.
