More Storage And Counter Space While Remodeling Your Kitchen

When my spouse and I purchased our condo, we were fortunate to have found one that had recently been remodeled. The carpet was brand new and chic–the whole house had been painted or wallpapered. The bathroom counter has been resurfaced. Our home is positively beautiful, and we hardly had to lift a finger to make it that way.

The kitchen, however, is a bit of a different story. Soon after we moved in, we noticed that the purple laminate countertops started lifting up. They were stained, and the cupboards were outdated and remained smudged, no matter how much we tried to clean them.

We have obviously decided to remodel the kitchen. If you find yourself in the same position–your kitchen is looking shabby or you just need a change–then let me give you some tips that have been helping us along the way.

First of all, the two things that most people crave more of in the kitchen are storage space and counter space and regardless Brand Levitra of the space in your kitchen, you can have it.

How can you create more easy storage space? Look to the walls! The first change that my spouse and I made was to hang a large shelving unit on one of our empty walls. Because we knew it would have to handle a lot of extra weight, we went to the hardware store to find out about the extra supports we would need to install.

This shelving unit served as a mini pantry, storing dry goods like flour, sugar, and rice. What’s more, we attached hooks to the bottom in order to hang some of our pots and pans within easy reach.

Next, my spouse took it upon himself to build a custom-made portable island. Our kitchen was large enough to accommodate an island that was about five feet long, but you can make one to your own specifications. If you aren’t too handy with a hammer and nails, contact a professional to do a custom job for you.

Doing this can grant you both extra storage and another stretch of countertop that you so often need when cooking or baking.

Then, of course, take a look at your cabinets. You may be able to fix issues like smudges and stains with a thorough cleaning or painting the surface. You may also be able to create a new look by re-facing–this means that the doors and hinges to your cupboards will be replaced.

If you aren’t sure how to approach your cabinets, contact a professional to come to your house and assess the damage and what can and should be done. After all, you don’t want to use your cabinets as the storage they were meant for if they are damaged or falling apart.
