NASCAR Tickets – Jeff Gordon Goes for Five Brickyard Wins

NASCAR heavyweight Jeff Gordon is no stranger to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Gordon, who left California in his teenage years to race sprint cars in Indy, is a Hoosier hometown hero and one of NASCAR’s most celebrated drivers, and he could soon have his name go down in motorsports history if he wins the 2010 Brickyard 400.

Gordon is after his fifth career Brickyard title this year – a feat that hasn’t been accomplished by any driver from any racing circuit ever. Should he win the July 25 Brickyard race in Indianapolis, Jeff Gordon will be the winningest driver in the history of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the mecca of both stock car and IndyCar racing.

The ever-humble Gordon sees his four career Indy wins as respectable but not necessarily history-making, advising against comparing his four NASCAR wins at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to IndyCar races there. While focusing on taking No. 5 at the track this year, Gordon is quick to stop racing fans from declaring him the best Indy has ever seen.

He recently told ESPN he dislikes being compared to IndyCar heroes like A.J. Foyt, Al Unser Sr. and Rick Mears – the three IRL drivers who match his four career wins at the IMS. Gordon said, “That is the one statistic that I will fight everybody on. I mean, they’ve been having the Indy 500 since 1911 or 1912 or something. You can’t compare the history of the Indy 500 to the Brickyard 400, which has been there since 1994. So I’m proud to have four wins there, but you look at how few guys have won four in an Indy car there, [and] I’m guessing it must be harder in an Indy car than it is in a stock car.”

His Brickyard wins might be slightly mismatched to Indy 500 wins, but there’s no question that the modest Jeff Gordon absolutely dominates at Indy, where he has already kissed the bricks four times (in 1994, 1998, 2001 and 2004). Gordon is out to snap Jimmie Johnson’s two-year winning streak at the IMS this year, and racing fans are clamoring to get their hands on NASCAR tickets to the Brickyard 400 to see Jeff Gordon go for lucky number five.

Jeff Gordon is currently sitting pretty at second place in driver standings in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, following closely behind series leader Kevin Harvick going into the Brickyard 400. He has yet to win a race this year on the NASCAR circuit, but Indianapolis is a continual hotspot for him Kamagra jelly and hopes are high for a Brickyard win in 2010.

In 2009 Jeff Gordon placed a respectable ninth at the Brickyard 400, and this year he won’t be satisfied with anything less than No. 1. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a racetrack with rich history, and Jeff Gordon will attempt to write his name in the history books at the IMS on July 25 when NASCAR invades his hometown in Indiana with the Brickyard 400. Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines!
