What’s the main thing that keeps us from getting in the shape we want to be in? Well, once you get going on an exercise program, it becomes fun. You find the part of it you like and you go on that. Now, most of these programs were developed by people who, honestly, don’t have the qualifications to be calling themselves experts and designing full body workout programs. Secondly, he’s actually a pretty well respected fitness instructor and expert, and Zumba is, unlike similar programs, actually recognized by various fitness groups including the Aerobic Fitness Association of America, the IDEA Fitness and Health Association, the American Council on Exercise, and various individual fitness experts. This actually is saying something. Every year, a dozen of these programs come out, and very few are regarded as real workout programs by anyone of any influence.

He knows a bit about music, too. Incorporating methods borrowed from professional DJs like beatmatching and so on, the music used in the program uses tempo and rhythm changes in order to phase the workout through different steps like toning, aerobics and muscle building.

The movement began at a grassroots level. This isn’t some cash in he decided to put out in an infomercial after Shakira became famous in the US or anything. It started in Miami around 2001. Having already found success in Colombia, he started to refine the whole idea, and it wasn’t him that put the whole idea forth so much as it was his students. It caught on naturally, not artificially, and what we’re seeing today is the ripple effect where it’s finally catching on nationwide.

The music in the program is primarily Latin American, like Reggaeton, Mambo and so on, but it also incorporates some hip hop and pop Levitra as well as some bellydancing, so you could say that Beto explored all of the world’s music and just found the best stuff to dance to (and really, Latin America has always led world culture on that front).
