How do I Know if my Network Installer is Qualified?

As you probably know, a network is extremely important in the smooth running any business, and there are a number of ways that you can implement one. For instance, you could try to install it yourself, but there is a lot of work involved with taking this on and as such there are associated risks.

You will need to install cables in the walls and especially the ceilings if you are dealing with a cubicle based environment. In addition to that, it would help if you knew how to set up subnets, hubs, and routers in general. All very technical, and not always the easiest processes to fully understand; particularly for those who have zero experience with networks and related technology.

Something to remember is that routers are very intricate and take a fair amount of knowledge to fully master. If you are setting one up for a small computer network then you will not need to use any special skills, or at least certainly nothing too technically advanced. However if you are setting one up for a network of several hundred computers, then you are going to need to do it just right. This can be very challenging because there is port forwarding that needs to be done. That being said, you’re going to need a network installer.

Hiring a network installer now is much easier than it was twenty years ago. These days there are millions of people in the Information Technology field, but with that in mind, you need to make sure your network installer is qualified.

There are many people that can do network installations, but there are also many people with only a partial knowledge of the system. These are the people that you need to keep away from your setup. But with all of the IT people floating around out there, how do you really know if your network installer is qualified?

To be honest, it all starts with their certifications. A network installer should have CISCO certifications among others; this is all the more important if you are implementing a CISCO system. You want to make sure that the installer has graduated from an accredited university or has an official diploma, and that they know exactly what they are doing. That of course brings us to determining whether or not the certifications are real. That in particular can be rather difficult, but it’s pretty easy to tell.

If you have your doubts, you can call the institution at which the individual claims to have gotten his or her expertise. They will be able to quickly confirm whether or not they are telling the truth. Of course you can also tell by the individual’s skills, but that might not be the best road to take when you are dealing with your network infrastructure.

These are just a few things you need to know when you are having your network installed. It’s definitely not the most convenient way to go about things, but when you are dealing with a network, you don’t want to take the easy way out. Keep your eyes open and get the job done as best you can.
