The Most Memorable Cars on the Big Screen

There’s nothing like watching the sight of two beautiful cars handling sharp twist and turns on the road as they battle it out during an intense high speed chase which inevitably ends in a dramatic explosion. We’re talking about cars on the silver screen of course! The right car can really add a special dimension to a movie and make it a lot more fun and exciting. Here is a list of the most famous and memorable cars to ever hit the big screen.

Aston Martin DB5 “GoldFinger”- This British exotic luxury vehicle has made an impressive appearance in both “Goldfinger” and “Thunderball” movies from the James Bond franchise. The actual DB5 model that was driven by Sean Connery was just recently auctioned off at a London auction in October 2010 at the cool of $4.6 million by an American collector. The engine is 4.0 Liters and is able to reach top speeds of up to 145 mph.

Ford Coupe-“American Graffiti”- Ford’s bright yellow 1932 coupe made a memorable in the final racing scene in the American classic movie “American Graffiti”. The impressive ride comes with a well equipped with a 3.6 Liter eight cylinder engine and puts out 60 horsepower. This movie appearance only acted to solidify Ford’s reputation as an iconic and legendary American auto maker.

Ford Edge-“Quantum Of Solace” – You know a car symbolizes chic and sophistication when it’s driven by none other than super spy James Bond. The environmentally friendly Ford Edge (Hydrogen Fuel Cell Model) was driven by the dashing Mr. Bond himself in the Blockbuster movie “Quantum of Solace”.

Bumblebee-“Transformers “- We can’t think of a cuter and sweeter name for a car than Bumblebee. Bumblebee is a gorgeous bright yellow Camaro painted with black stripes and looks just like her namesake, a Bumblebee! Unfortunately, Bumblebee was involved in a real-life car crash recently on the set of Transformers 3 when it was t-boned by a SUV police cruiser in Washington DC. For movie lovers who want to have their own little Bumblebee, Chevrolet offers a Transformers Special Edition appearance package for the Camaro. This includes a cool Autobot shield and the Transformer logo on the door’s sill plates.

Delorean DMC 12-“Back To The Future”- This vehicle manages to achieve the impossible and break the laws of quantum. In the movie the DMC is able to travel back in time when hitting exact speeds of 88 mph. In our book, that makes the Delorean one of the coolest cars ever.

Ford Mustang GT-“Bullitt”-The 1968 Mustang GT can be seen in an intense scene in the flick “Bullitt”, which was released in 1968. The car is super powerful for its time and as a matter of fact, it’s still powerful for today! Equipped with an impressive a V8 engine with 325 HP, this smooth and cool ride had a major role in an intense seven minute car chase scene.

All of these cars have become infamous and touched popular culture in some way by their appearance in the movies. Most people don’t give the automobiles they see in movies a second thought, but in some cases, these vehicles have gone on to become even more infamous and famous than the actors! Without a doubt, these cars are the stars of the show!
