PEACE – Fact Or Fiction

If you read pages 122-127 of my Discover Living book, you know I wrote that the political turmoil is coming to pass is as it should. There is an evolution and a revolution taking place now in several countries that have controlled their populations by force and manipulation in the context of a peaceful society. Nothing actually was further from the truth. It doesn’t matter whether it was the youth or some underground organization that initiated the unrest in Egypt. The fact remains that the people were at a melting point of being oppressed and could not take it anymore. Suppressing people through fear, intimidation, and making them feel powerless is only a stopgap. Inequities can last for years or even decades, but eventually there comes a day of reckoning where the consensus of people demands that they be treated like human beings, and a change that sometimes could become violent will result in a different lifestyle. Fortunately, the Egyptians became an example for the world by showing how a non-violent group of citizens could become a force for change. Power can become a corrupting force, and needs to be stopped when self interest overshadows public welfare.

As you have read, this vision of hope for change has spread to other countries. Could this be the rebirth of new societies that I predicted. Some are saying power is being condensed and will unveil a new world order. Others are saying that undercover government organizations are stirring the unrest. I take issue with these reasons that continue to put fear in our hearts. Beliefs and customs are unique to every country so to assume that one world order could control all these differences is invalid. People who are content will not react to manipulation. People are coming together to demand their human rights and to be able to live a lifestyle according to their customs. No one force can control this. Political regimes should be replaced by leaders who recognize others as human beings and a desire to further their particular national heritage in a peaceful way, i.e. without the need to govern by force.

Many governments around the world have discarded or lost the pulse of their people, and are now entering a period of re-balancing where people are demanding the dignity and respect they deserve. This is a shift toward individual rights and away from political domination. It really doesn’t matter what form of government I am addressing. This change or shift has begun and will affect everyone. When a country restores or creates its middle class to a point where it can sustain itself, there will be a beginning of the necessary foundation for it to prosper and meet its needs.

When power, greed, corruption, and resentment become a part of government decision making, the government will begin to lose focus and then begins to fragment. It is happening in the USA at both the county, State and Federal levels of government. The imbalances that have existed for years have created and have put them in a situation where taxes do not cover the cost of goods and services. Raising taxes or eliminating needed services is the easy, but not the right answer. The infrastructure of excess must change. The public sector is simply too big, and in many instances is being compensated excessively. Just this week someone related that the Federal government is giving the State of California $53 million to study the effects of sugar in drinks. Why? Public sector compensation, pension, and health benefits overshadow the private sector in many states. How can this questionable spending take place in an economy that is teetering in excessive debt? Unions that support public employees need a reality check to make them understand that county, State, and Federal budgets can no longer support these contracts. I heard the unfunded pension benefits in California are estimated from $200 to $700 billion dollars, depending on who you ask. The infrastructure must change to restore peace in the hearts of its people. The public sector is simply too big for the private sector to support.

Wouldn’t it be a milestone if the United States government voted to eliminate all its nuclear warheads in honor of worldwide peace? Then challenge every other country follow its lead. Do you honestly believe that doing this would invite other countries to invade the USA? The answer is a big, “No.” Nuclear warheads are supposed to be a deterrent. Who put these thoughts in our minds? After many decades of research since the discovery of the atom bomb, don’t you think the major countries have other deterrents besides a nuclear warhead? Following the USA lead could lead to a worldwide ban on nuclear warheads, and open up inspections for everyone. Who needs a bomb that will end the world as we know it? What has happened to the Japanese nuclear reactors after the recent earthquake should wake us up to the need to have a worldwide ban on all nuclear warheads. Billions of dollars are currently being spent annually in the USA just to maintain these bombs that should and hopefully will never be exploded. Military strategists need to look at this current policy as insanity. There are countries that don’t even have a military. Yet, they are not being invaded. We need a new attitude shift by those in charge of military spending. I realize and have read that there are other countries that believe the USA is out to conquer the world. We can dispel these thoughts by making and taking a bold act toward worldwide peace. If there are war mongers in government who can’t be satisfied being a safety net to unrest, then maybe they should leave. The military can remain strong, and the best in the world, but it doesn’t have to be deployed around the world and engaged in several expensive confrontations at the same time. This is at a time when the country debt situation should not support these increasing military expenditures. The masses in the USA and I am sure in other parts of the world simply want to provide for their family, have a decent place to shelter, and sufficient food to eat. Peace without force is the only way the world can make this a reality. It is time for effective and sincere communication, cooperation, and a coordination of actions for the welfare of people. Our minds have been dumbed down into this violence wins out mentality, and it has and is being proven that it does not work. Peace without force is the only remedy. It can take place. It comes down to an attitude shift, and a behavior change.

The world looks to the USA as a superpower. If it is sincere in its quest for worldwide peace, it is time for it to set an example for other nations to follow. For too long the USA has followed the policy of enforcer. It is time we let the world know that peace without force is the only way. No more pre-emptive strikes on another nation. It needs to stop this charade and allow it to really follow its doctrine of a country of, by, and for its people. To accomplish this unthinkable proposition, it simply must begin with an attitude shift first by you to the constructive principles that foster peace without force, and then thousands like you. When you multiply this change of attitude among many then you become a force and the powers to be will have to listen to these demands or risk being removed as is happening around the world at present.
