Types of Shower Doors – Bifold, Pivot and Sliding

When you want your house to be as comfortable as it can be, you need to take into account every small detail. You even need to take a moment to ponder on which shower door you should be using. They can either make the room feel more spacious or it can look cramped.

These types of doors can come in different materials. Plastic doors can be the cheapest ones that you can find. Then, you may also have glass doors. Glass doors which can be tempered, cleared, frosted, mirrored or patterned. Wooden doors are the worst material that you can use for a shower door as they cannot sustain too much moisture. So, if you want your shower door to last a little longer, you need to avoid wooden doors.

Bifold Doors. From its name, the door can be folded into half. This means that you can make use of half of the dimension of the door when you are opening it. This is best for those who have small bathroom spaces. The doors can be folded and stationed at the side of the shower room or the bathroom stall. You get to avoid using up space either inside or outside of that room.

Bifold doors come in different sizes. There are ready-made doors and there are those that can allow for customization to make sure that they perfectly fit the shower stall.

One problem that can occur with this type of door is the possibility or having problems with the track in between the two planes. This can become problematic making the door difficult or impossible to open. So, to maintain its performance at a good level, you need to regularly clean the door and make sure that no dirt or debris is lodged in the door.

Pivot Door. For those who have larger space in their bathroom, a pivot door for the shower stall will be good to have. They are easy to manipulate and maintenance is not as rigid as in the case of a bifold door. Also, you can expect to encounter fewer problems in the future if you have this type of door installed.

But, do remember that this door will only be comfortable to have if you have a big room. It can eat up a lot of space when you need to open and close it. Pivot doors are the same as hinged shower doors and they can come in a few more specific designs. There are offset pivots, center hung pivot, and intermediate pivots.

Sliding Door. Another door style that can be used is the sliding door. This is also applicable to bathrooms that are spacious. Sliding doors need space so that they can be opened to their full areas. This will be good to have if you are looking for a lot of clearance at the door of the shower stall.

Glass is the most common material that sliding doors are made from. This may be because the material is light but heavy enough to keep the door attached to its platform on the floor. Also, glass is a material that is easy to use even if the door is wide.
