Basically, ownership of either is much the same, with the only real differences being the location of the building and the style of the individual units, as above. The important thing is to understand that loft living can provide limitless design opportunities when comparing the two.

However, loft living can be a difficult transition for those who are accustomed to \”organized\” design where walls create boundaries and distinguish the different rooms, as with condos. Additionally, lofts often have exposed plumbing and supports that are exposed whereas they are hidden in conventional residential homes and apartments.

As for the location of the buildings, condos are usually new developments in different areas of a city, and real lofts are found in certain locations, like the art district. Whatever the case, both styles are and will continue to be sought after by people who prefer apartment living and the freedom that it brings from reduced maintenance and other exterior responsibilities that are a staple of single-family dwellings. Before making any decisions, ensure that your lifestyle is respected.
