Five Ideas to Increase Exercise in Your Day

Dan Clay, a personal trainer, who has been in the field of health and fitness for more than ten years, admits that one of the most commonly asked questions are, “how can we lose weight?” followed by, “how can we continue keeping that extra pounds off?”

Karen explains that losing weight and to continue maintaining it is not such a challenge it seems, if we can make exercise and healthy eating a part of our daily lifestyle routine.
“Incorporate physical activity where ever you can”, he says.

To understand the importance of exercise and diet, it is essential to first understand how our body works when fed. Our body swings into action, when fuelled with food. It works to digest and assimilate the food. The energy acquired from breaking food is used to provide the energy to do work. Metabolic rate is the rate at which our body burns calories. So if your body consumes 2500 calories a day and uses 2500 calories a day, your body weight remains the same.

Trainers point out that to successfully lose weight one needs to burn more calories than consumed to target that stored fat.

Burn Fat

When one is looking to burn that stored fat, it is essential to look at ways to burn more calories. To increase your body’s metabolism and burn more calories you must look at more and more ways to be active.

Keep Moving

Trainers rightly point out that sustained high intensity exercises not only burn a significant amount of calories but also continue to do so for several hours afterwards.

To enhance your metabolic rate, it is important to continue being active all through the day.

Extra Steps

Keep looking for opportunities for taking that extra step. Trainers claim that the accumulated benefits of these shorter and impromptu activities help in a great way. They keep the count of calories burning ticking.

Ideas to Exercise through the Day

1) Walk – Avoid using the car whenever possible. Take a walk for short distances.
Get your baby into a stroller and get that much needed air.

2) Cycling is also an excellent exercise that works on the larger muscles of your body thus burning more calories. You can cycle with your child for that visit to your public library in your locality.

3) Improve your family’s health by incorporating some family time in the community swimming pool.

4) Dance. Put on those dancing shoes. A lot of people are choosing to learn a dance form to bring on that added x factor into their life. Dancing schools have come up with lessons for dance forms like belly dancing and salsa that not only burn a lot of calories and exercise those muscles but they are also a fun way to get in touch with your creative self.

5) Encourage your child to take up outdoor sports or martial arts where you can train together. That way you are connecting with him and also keeping fit.
