The Advantages of Plastic Surgery and How it is Applied Today

Plastic surgery was first practiced in Ancient Rome. It is well known that Ancient Romans preformed some small aesthetical procedures. But, plastic surgery as we know it today, was introduced in 1827 in USA. Dr John Peter Mettauer performed the first surgery. And ever since, with the help of modern technologies, plastic surgery was constantly advancing. Today, it is being routinely practiced in hundreds of clinics all over the globe.

Aesthetic surgical procedures are very popular topic for discussion. Some people argue that people should be happy with their bodies as it is and nothing should be changed. Others claim that an individual is entitled to do whatever they wish with their bodies. The truth is in the middle. There are good and bad sides.

Technology and procedures have advanced to the point where a person can fix almost everything on their bodies. Big nose, small breasts, wrinkles – everything can be changed. But, some people overuse available techniques. Perfect examples are women who choose oversized breast implants or inject too much collagen in their buttocks. End result is counter – effective. Instead of looking more beautiful, most of these women look like too artificial and completely unattractive.

Famous old saying goes: nature cannot make a person as ugly as the person can make themselves. Many bad examples can be found everywhere, mostly in celebrity magazines. Michael Jackson is a well known example of how too much procedures can ruin one\’s face and body. Eventually, he did not even look human.

Anyone looking to fix some body imperfection, should be aware that it will not be cheap. All reputable doctors charge a lot but there is a reason for that. Going to a cheap doctor will indeed save money, but it could also produce unwanted result.

Not only that cheap doctor will yield aesthetically unwanted result but there are certain health risks too. There are reports of malpractices all over the world. The most extreme example is the case of 6 American ladies who went to a certain clinic in Dominican Republic and chosen local doctor for a liposuction procedure. When they came back to America, they were diagnosed with a dangerous infection. There is also a report of a Puerto Rican woman who died after a liposuction. All these examples clearly show that one should seriously consider all factors prior to choosing a doctor.

Visual changes are not the only reason why these procedures are being used. There are also ways to rebuild facial structures through surgery. These procedures are mostly used to treat serious body injuries, such as skin burns.

With so many known benefits of plastic surgery, one should not dismiss it easily. No one should be forced to suffer just because they were not fortunate enough when it comes to their physical appearance. However, people shouldn\’t exaggerate. Older woman cannot look like a teenage girl, no matter how good a surgeon is. The most important thing is to set realistic and naturally looking goal. Unfortunately, many people do not understand this simple rule, and these are known as plastic surgery freaks.
