Why Thin People Must Train With Weights to Gain Weight

If you are thin and skinny ever since you can remember, you are probably classified medically as an ectomorph or in the health and fitness circles, a hardgainer. Your metabolic rate is working at rocket speed and this is the reason why it is difficult for you to increase your weight to get bigger.

Your friends consistently make jokes about you and have also given you some unflattering nicknames. You lack brute physical strength and are not good at most sports. You are probably taller than the average person because of your longer limbs. Have I described you more or less correctly?

Here is the good news. Even if you are a hardgainer, you can increase your weight. If you take up weight training, you will even have some additional benefits over other non-hardgainers. Yes, you read that right.

Whoever told you that just because you do not have the genetics to become a professional bodybuilder and so you are unable to pack on slabs of lean muscle onto your body if you is dead wrong! So let\’s see what you can do to gain muscles and therefore extra weight and what are the advantages of an ectomorph when training with weights.

Bodybuilders usually have two phases in their training program. The bulking up phase is the phase when they build up their muscles and will have to eat a lot to fuel their muscle growth. In this phase, they their muscles will grow bigger but at the same time, many of them will put on some body fat as well.

The second phase is often called the cutting phase. This is the time when competition is drawing near and they will have to cut their excess body fat in order for their ripped muscle definitions to show up. This is the time when they will have to watch their diet carefully and invest in a great amount of time for cardio exercises to burn away their excess fat.

As a hardgainer, you have low body fat and your high metabolism makes fat burning very easy. So unlike others who need to lose fat after their bulking up phase, you will have very little or no fat to lose. So you may not even to go into the cutting up phase for your hard earned muscles to show clearly.

Another advantage you have is that because of your small skeletal structure, just simply adding some muscles to your body frame will create an illusion that you are getting bigger and heavier really fast.

Your longer limbs may be a hindrance to move the weights in many exercises, the advantage is that your longer arms gives you the mechanical advantage in a terrific exercise called the deadlift. The Deadflift is one of the best exercises to increase massive muscle mass for almost the entire body.

As you get older with age, your metabolism will begin to slow down and you will tend to gain body fat because of the slower metabolic rate. This may be bad news for others but may be good news for hardgainers if you are training with weights because you will increase your ability to increase your muscle size without too many worries about gaining body fat.

Now for the moment of awakening. You need to be realistic. You see, even for the average person, putting on muscle mass and weight is not an easy task. You must have noticed that many people go to the gym regularly and their muscles don’t seem to grow at all.

This is because it can get very technical and scientific to build muscle mass fast and safely. So hire a professional personal trainer to help you along the muscle holy grail if you can afford one, if not, there are many affordable weight training programs you can find in the internet. Just make sure that you get a good program by a good reputable bodybuilding coach.

There is no doubt that thin and skinny people can increase their weight and size by training with weights unless you have other underlying medical conditions that restrict you. I know that as a fact because I have personally helped many hardgainers to gain weight from increasing their muscle mass.
