Athletes often mention in on-air camera interviews how much it means to them when they look up in the spectator stands and see family, friends and people from their country cheering them on to victory. An athlete works hard to reach the highest level in his or her craft and that would be to become an Olympian. Having people they know and love or people from their home town there would mean all that much more.
