Andy Warhol Prints

Andy Warhol prints are very sought after today. However, his career began with his graduation in pictorial design from Carnegie. He then moved to New York City.

He found success with being a commercial artist and he did well at it into the 1950s. His first exhibition was in 1952 where he displayed his drawings. Later he made some films that are now considered classics.

In 1968 he was shot and nearly died. He went on to do some paintings and he was also involved in a few television shows.

He died in 1987 after gall bladder surgery. Later in 1994, a museum dedicated to his works was opened in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Andy Warhol prints captured everything from modern pop art to commercial art that everyone recognizes such as pictures of Campbell’s Soup and Coca Cola bottles. He was also the person who coined the well-known and well used phrase, “fifteen minutes of fame.”

His parents were immigrants from Slovakia. All of these factors melded together to form the wonderfully ingeniously artistic mind that gave the world the artistry of Andy Warhol prints.

He also was hired to do album covers for recording studios as well. There were many things that he was hired to do and that he truly loved to do, and all of these things he did well.

His works also include some rather famous portraits of people that everyone recognizes. Some of the more famous subjects were Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, Troy Donahue, Muhammad Ali, Elizabeth Taylor, Mick Jagger, Liza Minnelli, John Lennon, Diana Ross and Brigitte Bardot.

While these were impressive clients, in the 1970s he went on to do portraits of people who were perhaps richer and more royal such as:

– Shah of Iran Mohammad Reza Pahlavi

– Empress Farah Pahlavi (wife of the Shah of Iran)

– Princess Ashraf Pahlavi (sister of the Shah of Iran)

– Chinese Communist leader Mao Zedong

Andy Warhol prints are so popular because he was such a multi-faceted persona. He represented so many different walks of life, like commercial artist, drawing artist, painter, director of film, author and businessman, and later he broke into music as well.

He was involved in theater as well as photography. He even did some work with silk screening in fashion for dresses.

Andy Warhol prints are perhaps as popular as this artist was diverse. There seemingly was no end to his interests, his talent or his energy. It didn’t matter what genre he was producing his work in, it was brilliant.

His earliest paintings were considered by him to be Pop Art. These consisted of things such as cartoons, and they were completed with drippings of paint.

He did serious works and those that weren’t so serious. Everything from cartoon characters to electric chairs or automobile crashes can be found among the mounds of his work.

He was even commissioned at one time to paint a BMW for racing. His talent shines here because it reportedly took him less than half an hour to finish it with stunning results.
