Libertine-Libertine Fall/Winter 2011

The Libertine-Libertine line of clothing is still relatively young. It was established in Copenhagen during summer 2009 by Rasmus Bak, Pernille Schwarz and Perter Munch Ovesen. The three set out to build a brand that would inspire, promote existentialism and foster creativity without forgoing quality and design. Their collections are described as “inspired by city lights, wild shores and contemporary culture” and they evolve effortlessly with the seasons, putting out lines that are a new spin on the classics.

In an interview with Fader at the Capsule Men’s Tradeshow, Rasmus Bak commented on their success- “It’s been two amazing years; we’re kind of getting somewhere and building up a very strong platform”. This is evident in their new line of Libertine-Libertine clothing for Fall/Winter 2012, a collection of hand-printed button down shirts, Libertine t shirts, deconstructed blazers and sweaters in soft grays and burnt oranges that are very wearable for fall.

“We don’t even want to look Scandinavian or have minimalistic features” Bak remarked. “We’re rooted in the skate and surf scene”. He also commented on the hand-printing, stating that they rarely use stock fabrics as they prefer the uneven, authentic looks that they develop themselves.

The Libertine-Libertine shirts are multifunctional and great for casual layering. The hand-screened t shirts are easily layered under the many plaid button downs for an effortless, urban edge. Shirts such as the Libertine-Libertine Hunter shirt boast classic blue pin striping on a white background, hand-printed over with a tiny paper-boat like pattern. Once you start to browse their collections, it’s the small details that stand out.

The blazers for the fall collection are also meticulously constructed and anything but dull. The Libertine-Libertine Totem Jacket is a warm, lightweight wool blazer with an eye catching striped exterior. It has three large front pockets that are edged in a complimentary blue and it closes with popper fastenings.

The new Libertine-Libertine Count Chino Trousers are made from 100% cotton and the brushed fabric makes them extra soft without compromising warmth. They have the signature leather branded patch and two button-down pockets on the rear and can easily be cuffed or rolled to create a variety of looks.
