How To Raise Metabolism To Burn More Calories

Raising your metabolism rate is one of the easiest ways to lose weight. However, how quickly you can shed your excess body fat will be dependant on a few things such as your genetics, age and even gender.

Your genetic inheritance plays a big part because as you probably know, certain people are born with very high metabolic rate and that they can eat what they want, it will still be difficult for them to gain weight whereas others are born with low metabolic rate and gain weight very easily.

Where gender is concerned, men have higher metabolism than girls. This is largely due to the fact that men have more muscles than women and more muscles means higher metabolism.

Age is also a factor because a person’s metabolism slows down as he or she grows older with age. Although you cannot control the aging process, your sex or genes, you can do other things to raise your metabolic rate naturally.

Many people perform cardiovascular exercises, such as running, joining aerobic classes and skipping to raise their metabolism so as to burn more calories. However for cardio exercises to be at its most effectiveness, you must raise the intensity of the exercises.

If you visit the local gym, your will see people riding on a stationary bike while at the same time reading a book or people walking on the treadmill. Although low intensity cardio exercises do burn calories, it is not enough to lose weight. So put more intensity into your cardio exercises.

Furthermore, when you workout with high intensity exercises, you will continue to burn calories hours after your workout. So why settle for less?

While you are at the gym doing your cardio, do not shy away from training with weights. This is because muscular people have higher metabolism and thus they are natural fat burning furnaces. Your muscles are active tissues and portion of the calories you eat will go into feeding the muscles and sustaining it instead of being stored as body fat.

Furthermore, when you are lifting weights during your workout, you are also burning calories. Weight training will also force your body to continue to burn calories several hours after your workout.

To further your quest in raising your metabolic rate, drink more water. You you’re your body need water to process calories, so if you are dehydrated, your metabolic rate may drop. When I said drink water, I mean good old plain water, not those sugary sodas or syrups as those drinks are packed with sugar calories.

Now, what I am going to say next may surprise some people. Eat more often to lose weight. Surprised? However, make sure they are smaller meals than what you usually eat and make those meals high in protein.

The reasons are very simple. Firstly, you are building muscles right? So feed your muscles with protein for them to grow. Secondly, your body needs to use up more calories to digest the protein and less where fat and carbs are concerned.

You may not believe this but numerous researches had shown that eating more often do help people to lose excess weight. This is because having a smaller meal every 2 to 4 hours keeps your metabolism cranking hard. Furthermore, have high protein meals because your body burns more calories digesting protein and less for fat and carbohydrates.

Another reason is that when you constantly have food in your stomach, your body will be in constant high metabolic rate as it will not go into a famine mode to store body fat which is the case when you go hungry.

So raise your metabolism rate with these methods and be amazed at your weight loss results.
