Feature Guide of a Tennis Ball Machine

Buying a good tennis ball machine is one excellent way to improve your game and take it up a few knots. This is not an instrument, however, that costs little. This means that before you get your money and start paying for one, pause and consider if you have done enough research. There are several features that you will be looking for in one. Look for one that has as many of these features as possible, yet it fits into your budget.

Capacity is one of the basic features to take a look at. You have to find out the number of balls the machine is able to handle at a time. This cuts down on the number of times you have to go and refill it. The average range is between one hundred and two hundred balls. However, some go lower than that while some go higher.

The next key feature to be on the lookout for is oscillation. This refers to the randomness with which the balls will be shot out of the machine. Adequate machines have to allow you to change the settings. There are times where you may want it to shoot in one direction to give you sufficient practice, while in another instance you want it to shoot in different directions for maximum practice.

Different machines are also able to feed a different number of balls at a time. The key is to find one that allows you to have different shoot rates. You should be able to adjust it so that it shoots out one ball every two seconds or every twelve seconds or so. This control means that you can choose what kind of game you are looking for, a fast one or a slow one.

There is also a key feature known as ejection rate. This is the speed that balls are thrown out. Normal machines release at a rate of between ten and sixty miles per hour.

In normal tennis, opposing players spin the ball with every shot they hit at a certain rate. Good machines offer players different shot spins too, therefore simulating the real game as much as possible. They can put topspin or backspin to balls as they come out. You have the option with most of these to select whether you want random spin or one in particular. This is all to give variation, of course, to your shooting.

Trajectory is another important feature to look for. This is in basic reference to the angle at which the balls leave the machine. It could vary in such a way that in some cases, the balls are released in a high lob while in some cases it sends them low and hard. This happens in normal play with a human player, so you get adequate practice too.

Finally, consider how the tennis ball machine obtains its power. Does it get it from an external source or from a rechargeable battery? Those that use their own batteries are generally preferred. This is because it is not common to have a tennis court that has a power source so close to it.
