How to Shoot Better Golfing Scores Quicker

Learning to shoot better golf scores can seem like a great challenge and it is easy to get caught up in doing things that are not effective and lead to inconsistency. Remember that the short game comprises of a large portion of your score so it is important to learn to putt, chip and hit wedges well if you want to become the best player that you can possibly be. Putting is a significant component of the game and there are some key things you must keep in mind to maximize your putting skills and be able to shoot lower scores faster.

Selective Thinking:

Thinking the right way on the greens is no doubt very important if you want to become the best player you can possibly be. We all make mistakes even the best players so you need to learn to forget your bad shots and putts quickly and learn whatever you can from them and then move on to believing the next shot will go in the hole. You will soon come to notice that there are many styles and techniques out there with regards to putting. There are also a wide range of putters with varying lengths and putter head styles that have very different feels to them.

If you are a beginner then you need to decide on one type of putter and technique and make a long term commitment to sticking with it regardless of how bad your putting may get on any particular round. Work hard on practicing short putts as they are important to master in order to be a great putter. Avoiding too many mechanical thoughts on the greens is also very important in order to become a better putter. You should think about mechanics when you are behind the putt but once you are over it about to hit it then it is time to think about the target and trusting your stroke as well as your touch and feel.

Another important aspect to putting is to make sure that you are trying to make every putt regardless of how long it may be. Never aim for a 3 foot circle for long putts as this will only increase your margin for error, instead see the ball going in the hole on the last few rotations and always have the confidence that you can make every putt you hit. If you have trouble with keeping your mind quiet then you should consider trying various meditation exercises like focusing on the tip of a pen and only keeping the tip in your mind while avoiding any other distracting thoughts. It is fine to have one or two thoughts about mechanics but keep it to no more than two otherwise you will start getting very inconsistent results. Staying fit physically is another important step to having better concentration on the course. Be sure to go to the gym on a regular basis and do both cardio and weight training to keep your body strong as the mind and body connection is undeniable. A strong body will promote a strong mind so you can stay focused all the way until the final hole.
