What Makes a Good Electric Guitar Video Review Worth Your While?

There are several factors that makes everything we watch, specially a review, worth your time. First of all if you’re a musician searching for gear you probably already know what type of equipment your are doing research for. The great thing about some review sites is that its content targets a musician enthusiast like yourself who really likes and enjoys new equipment and information about its music instrument.

Let’s face it, not all reviews are created equal. Some people are very knowledgeable in their area of expertise, but they’re not very good entertainers. Their reviews tend to end up a little boring and slow to the untrained eye. Some other reviewers love to show off their skills in front of the camera, completely ignoring the audience and the reason why they’re watching the video in the first place.

We can all agree that although creating an entertaining review is not rocket science, making it pleasurable to watch required a set of tactics and skills.

Creating a great review requires a balance between some expertise, entrainment skills and a little bit of technical know-how. Everybody knows how to hold a camera, but just a few are capable of telling a story in such a way that could be both educational and interesting for the music enthusiast at the other side of the screen watching every second of the segment.

There are some other technical issues that make the review pleasing to your senses. The proper lighting and the right video equipment enhance the overall look and feel of your review. Lights are very important since video cameras don’t behave well under low light conditions. Having professional sound is also very important since it’s the main topic of the review itself (You don’t want to show the most beautiful electric guitar with the poorest sound) Your reviewer should also have a good microphone and adequate mixing, so his voice doesn’t over saturates while he or she plays on camera.

No matter if it’s a cheap electric guitar, bass guitar or percussion instrument. The reviewer should always remember that the real star of the show is, in the first place, the music, and second, the music instrument itself. That’s probably the reason why your public is watching your review in the first place.

Try to connect with your audience, remember that at the end they’re expecting you to deliver news and facts on what they love and cherish. They would see the review and your expert opinion to make choices in their musical instrument selections. So providing balanced and objective perspective becomes a responsibility towards your audience.

And last but not least, don’t forget to add a little humor, It always a good idea, including a joke or two, here and there, makes up for sharing complicated technical data, that might not be viewer’s cup of tea! Try it to make it as enjoyable possible, so everybody can enjoy it as much as you do!
