Denver Broncos Tickets – Tim Tebow is First-Round Surprise in 2010 NFL Draft

Tim Tebow provided NFL Nation one of its hottest debates in the weeks leading up to the 2010 NFL Draft, and the speculation is over following the first round of selections: Tebow will be a Bronco. Josh McDaniels and the Denver Broncos were the most active team of the evening on April 22 with the commencement of the first round of the draft, and after trading down a couple times the team swooped in on Tim Tebow, providing the upset of the night for mock drafters.

Many football analysts pegged Tebow as an early second-round draft pick at best, but McDaniels proved them wrong when he went after the former Florida Gator standout in the first round. What’s most surprising about the selection of Tebow as the 24th overall pick in this year’s draft is that one other stellar QB, Jimmy Clausen, still remains on the market after the first round of selections. Clausen was all but guaranteed by mock drafters to go in the middle of the first round, but Tebow perhaps stole his thunder, now certainly having something to prove to the league.

Tebow has been the subject of a tug-of-war game between those who think he’s good enough for the NFL and those who think he’s nothing more than media fodder, and much of that stems from the quarterback’s strange throwing strategy. Tebow was originally not projected to do much as far as this year’s NFL Draft goes because of his flawed throwing technique, but he altered it just in time for the combine this offseason, impressing coaches and recruiters at the event. Tebow’s impeccable public persona is also a huge draw, and for that reason his stock has steadily risen with the offseason.

Now that McDaniels has given the OK to get Tim Tebow on board in Colorado, Denver Broncos tickets are sure to be huge sellers on the football scene for next season. Tebow will play QB behind Kyle Orton and the newly-acquired Brady Quinn this season and doesn’t look to get much playing time on the field behind the ball, but that could be exactly what a quarterback of his caliber needs to excel later on down the line.

Tebow might have been a huge risk for the Broncos as a first round pick in this year’s draft, but coach Josh McDaniels already has some big plans for him in the near future, including him as a coveted piece in the Broncos’ newly-redesigned offensive scheme. Following the first round of the NFL Draft, McDaniels told the New York Times, “No college quarterback – or very few should I say – have run or done what we’re going to do, or what other NFL teams do necessarily, because the game has spread out so much. There are so many different things going on right now in the college football game that maybe you don’t see in the professional football league.”

Tim Tebow might be a newbie in the National Football League, but he’s no stranger when it comes to football domination. The Florida quarterback hasn’t come into the first round of the NFL Draft without merit, and in his four years spent playing college ball for the Florida Gators, Tebow helped lead the team to numerous wins, including the national championship in 2006 during his freshman season. Tebow won the Heisman Trophy in 2007 in his sophomore year and was a finalist in both 2008 and 2009, also setting a school record as the first collegiate player to both rush and pass for 20 or more touchdowns in one season.

No matter whether he turns out to be a draft day steal or bust, Tim Tebow has already made history in the sport of football and will continue to garner attention for the Denver Broncos in the wake of the 2010-11 football season.
