Following the Saints’ triumphant Super Bowl run last season, New Orleans once again stacks up as the best team in the division for 2010. Is there another team that might be able to make a run at Drew Brees and the boys? Let’s take a look at the NFC South division.

Carolina Panthers. Viagra Professional It seems that anything could happen this year in Carolina. I really like the Jimmy Clausen pick and think he has a very good chance at being the future of the franchise. The problem, though, is that Clausen won’t help them win too many games in 2010. Now that Steve Smith has broken his arm – from playing flag football no less – the year could potentially be a disaster.

Having said that, the Panthers still have the best one-two backfield punch in the league in DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart, which should take significant pressure off their defense, which just lost Julius Peppers. Matt Moore doesn’t have a lot of starting experience at quarterback but showed some signs of being a pretty solid signal caller in 2009. In Levitra Professional a touch division, though, it may be difficult for the Panthers to stay out of the basement.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The only thing that might keep the Panthers out of the basement could be playing in Tampa. Though third overall pick Gerald McCoy projects as a very good pro for a long time, it won’t be enough to get the Bucs near contention this season. With Josh Freeman handling quarterback duties, it’s going to be a struggle to move the ball on offense, particularly without many playmakers at skill positions. The bright side for the Bucs is that they now have a nice defensive front that they can build around, which is crucial to long-term success in the NFL.

Atlanta Falcons. If there is a team in the division that can challenge the Saints, it would have to be the Falcons. Even though quarterback Matt Ryan had somewhat of a sophomore slump last season, he’s still one of the better young quarterbacks in the league and has plenty of weapons to boot. Michael Turner was still pretty solid when he was on the field in 2009 and he again looks to be healthy, providing the Falcons with a power running game that few other teams in the league have. Roddy White is one of the most underrated wideouts in the league and tight end Tony Gonzalez remains a very good red zone target.

On defense, the Falcons still have a premier pass rusher in John Abraham and added Dunta Robinson to their secondary, which should help out against pass-first teams like the Saints. It’s a long shot for the Falcons to win the division, but look for Ryan to have a bounce-back season and get the Falcons back into the playoffs.

New Orleans Saints. With Brees playing as well as anyone at the quarterback position, the Saints are once again a threat to win the whole thing. Reggie Bush finally seemed to find his stride in the offense last season, providing that he does more than just sell jerseys and NFL tickets. Barring a major and unforeseen setback, it seems that the Saints are still the cream of the crop in the NFL.

Division outlook:
Even if the Falcons make a strong push, the NFC South could be the easiest division in football to predict. There is always the talk of a Super Bowl letdown, which could happen to Super Bowl winner, but Brees is such a fierce competitor and leader that I just don’t see it happening. Coach Sean Payton is also an offensive guru and can help get the Saints moving in the right direction if they hit rough patches. If Brees stays healthy, the Saints could win 14 or 15 games this season.
